| Azimuth is the horizontal component of a direction (compass direction),
measured around the horizon from the North point, toward the East, i.e. clockwise. It
is usually measured in degrees.

In the horizontal coordinate system
(also used in celestial navigation) azimuth is one
of the two coordinates. The other is altitude (elevation above the horizon).
In radio astronomy azimuth refers to the position that an antenna
must be pointed to receive a satellite signal. In aviation azimuth is used to
determine headings or the direction in which to fly.
