Breath spray

Breath spray is a product sprayed into the mouth for the purpose of eliminating or covering up bad breath or halitosis. It is occasionally advertised as being for smokers or those who chew tobacco, and occasionally to cover up the smell, regarded by many as offensive, of cigar smoking. It comes in a number of brands, such as Binaca. Common flavours include cinnamon, spearmint and peppermint, as well as company-specific flavours such as "Ice Mint".[1] (http://www.drammock-int.co.uk/bfFiles/CoolIce.html) The existence of strawberry flavour, however, appears to be elusive at best.[2] (http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=379794)

Some breath sprays have an anti-bacterial or anti-plaque property; some others contain chlorine dioxide[3] (http://www.saveyoursmile.com/products/fb/closysbreathspray.html). As alcohol is frequently a prime ingredient of breath sprays, some brands advertise that they are alcohol-free.

There has been wide diversity in packaging design; customised breath-spray containers have been made with the University of Michigan name on them,[5] (http://www.companycatalog.com/ProdDetail3.asp?url=umich&pid=25795) and Mother Teresa breath spray is also available.[6] (http://www.goodrock.com/asp/product.asp?product=4753) Other novelty packaging includes that of "Instantly Monogamous Breath Spray,"[7] (http://www.fridgedoor.com/fridgedoor/inmobrsp.html) and there is a joke breath spray called "Instant Gay Accent."[8] (http://www.pulpshop.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=2542)

Breath spray is alleged to be associated with several drugs, including LSD. It is also alleged that the aerosol mechanism of breath spray can be used as an inhalant.[9] (http://www.wisinfo.com/thereporter/news/archive/local_17927139.shtml)

Breath spray is available for pets as well as humans, and there has apparently been breath spray manufactured specifically for cats and dogs alone.

Nathan Kranzo has created a magic trick in which a roll of breath mints is transformed into a canister of breath spray.[10] (http://www.elmwoodmagic.com/?nd=full&key=2216)

Breath spray is rarely called "tongue spray".

Sound effects of breath spray are available from Soundstorm Sound Effects Library.[11] (http://www.audiolicense.net/sfx/sfx_list.asp?subcat_id=9872)
