| Buzz was a discount airline operating in Europe. It was established by KLM as a subsidiary to
compete with other discount airlines such as easyJet, Go Fly and Ryanair by taking over much of the former AirUK/KLMuk route network.
On January 31, 2003 KLM announced that
it was selling the unprofitable airline to Ryanair for 30 million euros, including 23.9
million in cash, pending approval by regulatory authorities. Ryanair intends to return the fleet of BAe-146 airliners to KLM and replace them with Boeing 737s,
purchasing as many as 100 new aircraft from Boeing.
