Man Booker International Prize

The Man Booker International Prize is a global literary award that recognises one writer for their achievement in fiction. Established in 2005 as a bi-annual prize, it will be given to a living author one time only who has published fiction either originally in English, or whose work is widely available in English translation. It is a spin off of the Booker Prize for the best novel written by a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland.

The nominees for the inaugural Man Booker International Prize were revealed at Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C.. Sponsored by the Man Group plc, the winner will receive £60,000 at an announcement to be made in London in mid 2005.
