| May Week is a term used in the University of
Cambridge to refer to the week starting on a Thursday (as weeks always do at the University of Cambridge) and including
Suicide Sunday, usually the second Sunday in June. It is the first week
after examinations finish for the year, and as such is a cause for heavy celebration amongst the students of the University.
Highlights of the week include May balls, as well as College events and garden parties. Traditionally in their
spare time this week students punt along the River Cam while eating strawberries and drinking Pimm's and
lemonade, and many use this free time to punt to Grantchester. May Week
ends when the examination results come out, so some stop celebrating sooner than others.
