The Miss Nepal beauty paegant is an annual event held in Kathmandu where a new Miss Nepal is crowned every year. This paegant was started in 1996 and ever since there has been no turning back. The first ever Miss Nepal crowned was Ruby Rana. Later Miss Nepals included Jharana Bajracharya, Niru Shrestha who is currently a pilot, and Malvika Subba. The recent Miss Nepal paegant held at the BICC (Birendra International Convention Centre) saw a great crowd both inside and outside because of pro-women activists protesting against the event.
