The Naturhistorisches Museum (Museum of Natural History) in Vienna was opened
in 1891 together with the Kunsthistorisches Museum. The two museums have identical exteriours and are placed facing each
other on the Maria-Theresien-Platz. The Museum was built to house the huge collection put together by the Habsburgs.
Both buildings were buildt between 1872 and 1891 on the Ringstraße after plans made by Gottfried Semper and Karl Freiherr von Hasenauer.
