Osakeyhtiö

Osakeyhtiö meaning "share-society", is the Finnish equivalent of Limited company (Ltd or LLC) or Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung (GmbH). It is abbreviate to Oy or OY, which comes either before or after the company's name, often with the Swedish version Ab or AB (Aktiebolag).

If the company puts Oy before the company's name or before Ab, i.e. OY Suomi AB or Suomi Oy Ab, it means that Finnish is the company's main language and if it is AB Finland OY or Finland Ab Oy, Swedish is the company's main language.

Julkinen osakeyhtiö

Julkinen osakeyhtiö means public share-society which is abbreviated to Oyj or OYJ which trades its shares on the Helsingin Pörssi (Helsinki Stock Exchange), the term is often has its Swedish version Abp or ABP (Pubilk Aktie Bolag).
