Phil Cool

Phil Cool is a British comedian from Chorley noted for his impressions. He astonished audiences in the latter half of the 1980s and early 1990s in a number of shows bearing his name, notably Cool It (1985), with his ability to contort his facial features.

Whereas many of his peers concentrated on mimicking the voice of the target and changing in and out of a succession of hats, beards, spectacles and coats, Cool put his energies into thrusting his eyebrows, lips and even, seemingly, his ears into the positions required of the part.

One notable segment of his performance saw Cool impersonate some kind of alien creature or monster, which involved a painful looking extension of his upper lip using his tongue and the shining of a green light on his face. Audiences, although it's difficult to convey this convincingly here, were startled.

He is still performing for audiences as of 2004.
