• 1926: The company was originally founded as Société de Prospection Électrique by Conrad and Marcel Schlumberger.
• 1934: Schlumberger Well Surveying Corporation founded (now Schlumberger Well Services).
• 1940: Moved headquarters to Houston, Texas.
• 1948: Inaugurated Ridgefield Research Center.
• 1956: Schlumberger Limited formed in Curaçao as holding company for all Schlumberger businesses.
• 1960: Formed Dowell Schlumberger by Schlumberger & Dow Chemical.
• 1985: Formed Sedco Forex Drilling Company.
• 1992: Acquired GeoQuest Systems.
• 1998: Acquired Camco International.
• 2000: WesternGeco formed as a joint venture with Baker Hughes.
• 2001: Information technology company Sema acquired for $5.2 billion.
• 2004: Sema sold to Atos Origin for $1.5 billion.
